Intelligent document recognition (IDR), which can also be called intelligent data capture, is a system that has integrated knowledge of generic form types such as Word or PDF, and has the ability to interpret and extract content from these and all types of unstructured data. Varied forms of documents are scanned and delivered to the IDR software where the IDR system will decipher the material. Using pattern recognition and optical character recognition (OCR), necessary information can be extracted from the data and be used for proper filing, editing or revision purposes. The extracted data can also be used to initiate workflows. Whether it be emails, images, contracts or any other unsorted data, IDR can translate all types of documents. IDR then applies labels and certain tags to make the documents organized and understandable, making it easier for filing, labeling and retrieving work materials in an orderly fashion.
